A Winter Wonderland Wedding at Hotel Millwright | Caitlin + Chad

February 22, 2025, was one of those magical Iowa winter days that felt like it was made for a wedding. The sun was shining bright over Amana Colonies, and while the air was crisp and chilly, the golden light and snow-dusted ground turned everything into a winter wonderland. Caitlin and Chad couldn’t have asked for better weather—it was everything you dream of for a winter wedding.

Their day began at Hotel Millwright, a venue steeped in history and overflowing with charm. From exposed brick to industrial textures, and of course the famous colorful yarn wall, this place is a dream for a photographer. There are unique photo opportunities around every corner, and it set the perfect tone for the day ahead. The bridal party got ready on-site, tucked away in the warm rooms of the hotel, with laughter echoing through the halls.

Caitlin and Chad shared their first look indoors at the hotel, bathed in that soft, dreamy sunlight that only a clear winter morning can bring. There was something extra special about their first look—the kind of quiet, emotional moment you wish you could bottle up. Their connection was so genuine, so full of joy—it set the tone for everything that followed.

The couple exchanged vows at a beautiful church in Cedar Rapids, then returned to Hotel Millwright for their reception. All of their couple and bridal party portraits were taken outside on the hotel grounds. The snow on the ground, paired with the bridesmaids' elegant evergreen dresses and cozy fur shawls, created a scene that felt timeless and cinematic. Every detail looked straight out of a winter fairytale.
